Cartesian Gantry Robot, or also known as cartesian coordinate robot, is a type of industrial robot characterized with its low-cost, simple and straightforward design which allows movement in a horizontal plane, usually in X, Y and Z axes, thus, its name. They are known for having the most rigid robotic structure since its axes are supported at both ends. Due to that, the movements are limited and stay only within the machine's confinement.
On the other hand, gantry robots are easier to program in terms of motion, have higher precision, produce the best accuracy and is less expensive compared to other articulated robot arms.
